When New York lost Penn Station, Paris lost les Halles “the belly of the city.”

Established in the 9th Century, les Halles was The food market for Paris. Robert Doisneau cataloged it’s last days before the central market was exiled out of the city to Rungis and the market halls were destroyed for a mall.
